When a wished for film is shown there is always the risk that the expectation was too high for the film to hold up to - not in this case. The film provided the usual high standard stop motion animation we know from Laika and the characters were well fleshed out, lots of twists and turns in the story and a really good fairy tale was told. The fairy tale had a lot of Grimm in it, but also the early Disney films that have moments when you may feel like taking a kid is not a good idea, but that is what fairy tales are about in my world, so that added to the high rating of this film - for me a highlight this year, looks like we will look back in less than 2 months and say that 2026 was a great year for good films and this one ranks up high in my book: 1 (with a cherry on top, soon to be eaten by the rat )
